This is a story of how a retired couple envisioned ‘Sippi Sippin’ Coffee while enjoying a hot summer day in their swimming pool. All businesses begin with a dream, an idea, a notion...
This is EXACTLY how ‘Sippi Sippin’ Coffee was born.
James and Linda Maxey moved to Tupelo from Larkspur, Colorado in 2018. James, who was born and raised in Tupelo, just retired as the Plant Manager of a large manufacturer in Denver. Linda, a Colorado native, left her job as a paralegal and retired along alongside James. Together, they purchased a home in Tupelo and began enjoying the fruits of their many years of labor.
So, they set about discovering the ins and outs of retirement… travelling a little, getting to know the area and gardening... among other activities.
But one short year in, they realized they were… well, bored. Both coming from a background of hard work and ingenuity, they found themselves in need of something to keep their life fresh and exciting.
So… on that hot summer day, while cooling off in their pool, they talked about starting a business and decided on... coffee. Why coffee?
Well, it turns out that Linda’s brother and sister-in-law own two wildly successful drive thru coffee shops in Navarre, FL, and will soon be adding a third.
You see, this is really the story of a family of coffee lovers. And it all started with that day in the pool.

About this time, Tupelo’s "The Pitch Small Business Competition" was announced, and the couple decided to enter their business idea. They had planned the basics:
• The perfect location for maximum exposure and profit
• Delicious coffee recipes that customers would crave
• The best coffee beans to use in their signature blends
• Their ideal business model and procedures incorporating drive thru speed and efficiency
• Branding their new business so it would stand out
They then presented their business idea to The Pitch… and won over 12 other entrants! After putting their plan into action, ‘Sippi Sippin’ opened on July 6, 2020 and has been going strong ever since!
Since 2020, 'Sippi Sippin' Coffee has increased in popularity, and the brand started busting at the seams with business. It was time for the brand to expand and grow. In 2022, 'Sippi Sippin' Coffee became a franchise giving 'Sippi Sippin' Coffee fans a chance to own and operate a 'Sippi Sippin' Coffee of their own! And in 2023, Todd and Amanda Hatchett were awarded the first 'Sippi Sippin' Coffee franchise!
The couple are from West Point, but love 'Sippi Sippin' Coffee so much, they decided to franchise the Tupelo location first. Come stop on by 'Sippi Sippin' Coffee in Tupelo to meet the new franchise owners and grab ya a cup of yummy! They will not let you down!
