James is the original ‘Sippi Hippie. Born and raised in Tupelo, MS, the birthplace of Elvis Presley, James likes to joke that he taught the King of Rock ‘n Roll how to sing!

During his career, James moved around the country as a Plant Manager. His work travels lead him to Colorado where he met Linda, a Colorado native and Paralegal. The couple soon married and built a nice life together on the side of a mountain in Colorado.

In 2018, James decided it was time for him to retire and move back home to Tupelo. The couple sold their home, packed their things, and moved back to Mississippi… but soon found retirement, well, a little boring. They researched many different business opportunities and settled on coffee. It was a natural choice as Linda’s family has been successful in the coffee industry for more than a decade.

After months of research and planning, the couple wrote what they felt was a solid business plan. They decided to put it to the test, by entering into Tupelo’s “The Pitch” Small Business Competition; a shark-tank like competition. Competing against 12 other business start-ups, James & Linda presented their business plan to a panel of judges. After 2 rounds of competition, ‘Sippi Sippin’ Coffee won! This was proof, ‘Sippi Sippin’ Coffee’s business plan was solid!

In 2020, 'Sippi Sippin' Coffee opened the doors and has been strong growing ever since. The 'Sippi Hippie is a hands-on business man and can be found in the shop daily, personally making drinks and joking around with the customers. Customers are always asking, “Where’s the Hippie?” James has built a solid relationship with all ‘Sippi Sippin’ Coffee’s customers and made ‘Sippi Sippin’ Coffee a cool place to chill with a cup of Groovy Brew, personally created by the Hippie himself.
